DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

For seven years, coincidentally the years of my graduation in film school, I have worked as a prison guard in a Brazilian institution. I used to be part of the ALFA team, composed by 28 men and women that every other day accomplished their work journey beside 900 inmates. Through these years I have started to perceive the penitentiary system as an alive bureaucratic organism, yet headless. And so many times, as talking to work colleagues, I would realize that each one of us felt as an arm of this living being. However, I felt as a handcuffed arm. The unique experience, not only of being able to observe the functioning of the Brazilian penitentiary system from inside, but of being part of it, has definitely influenced my decision in the making of this feature film.
