On the occasion of a dance competition a young ballet dancer is in a foreign place. Alone in his hotel room loneliness overpowers him, until he meets a stranger on the run.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
I am Lukas Dhont, a 21-year-old aspiring filmmaker. My main goal has always been to tell stories. Through the years I have discovered that I want to be telling them through the audiovisual medium. My work focusses on the body in movement. I love the expression of dance. Also adolescence, the period of change, is something that has always fascinated me. Films by Larry Clark and Gus Van Sant have meant a great deal in my search for style and meaning. When I was 18 I went to Los Angeles where I followed a film programm at the New York Film Academy. My first real experience with filmmaking was there. The same year I started my film education at KASK (School Of Arts) in Ghent where not only fiction but also the contact with documentary helped me develop my ideas around what I want to be telling and how. I made a short documentary ‘Skin Of Glass’ that got selected as one of 50 semi-finalists for a division of the Filmfestival of Venice and obtained my Bachelor degree with ‘Corps Perdu’, my first real fiction film.
