Yukiko, who left home when she was 20 years old,
goes back to her hometown with her 3-years-old son for the first time in a decade
so as to attend grandmother’ s Buddhist memorial service.
Her father and brother run a dyeing-thread atelier,
and their hands are colored deep blue by the dye.
Even though Yukiko comes back home, her parents keep ignoring her.
She starts to regret that she tries to show them her child,
but thinks again what is meant by “home” for her.
The main actress, Yukiko, and her son are not professional actors but amateurs.
They had lived actually in this shooting place
and had the experience somehow overlapped with the story in this movie.
Half of this movie is fiction but shot as a documentary.
