STORY DESCRIPTION:

Jakob leads the normal uneventful life of a nineteen year old boy, spending his time with his friends, his brother and his pregnant girlfriend, his nights out and his need for love. Unlike other teenagers however his most faithful companion is a camera through which he watches himself live, love and suffer: he believes these images give him access to his unconscious. When, alone in bed at night, the film reveals his introspective thoughts, which we hear as voice-over. Thus the young man’s existence is both shown objectively, and subjectively when the images are those of Jakob’s camera. Through this account of a teenager’s life, this first film explores the limitations of self-knowledge and the shifting boundaries between objectivity and subjectivity.
