Beating the Bomb charts the history of The British Peace Movement against the political backdrop of the atomic age.The narrative follows the now called 'nuclear deterrent', starting at the dawn of the nuclear age in WWII to present day. Nuclear weapons shaped the power structures that rose out of the rubble of WWII and underpin them to this day.The film pays tribute to the efforts of individuals and organisations to rid the world of nuclear weapons from past to present. It also frames the nuclear weapons issue within the wider context of global justice.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Wolfgang Matt has worked as a freelancer in television documentary for over five years.
He has directed a slate of short documentaries.Meera Patel studied film at the London International Film School; and then studied further to gain a degree as a chartered accountant. She has directed a short film called 'Aldermaston - 50 years on'.Beating the Bomb is their first feature length documentary and a labour of love project for everybody involved, made on a micro micro budget. It is an independent film in the truest sense of the word.
