DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Born in Dijon, France, in 1985.
Damien Montaron created his alias mani at the same time he found his art. The image, which is at the centre of this complete artist, has shown to be the best suited medium to give shape to his ideas and his vision.
He ventured first into photography, then gradually turned to video which pulled him ever closer to the cinema. Being a contemporary visual artist at heart, he also developed a graphic universe, particularly drawings showing an original and off-beat world.
After 3 years at the University Lumière Lyon II and a degree in cinema, Damien Montaron decided to resolutely turn to practice. He single handedly realized an animation entitled Bulles. It was his first attempt to conciliate his graphic universe and the cinema.
Around the same time, he set up the Collectif Alteréaliste, thus enabling him to launch his first fiction film. It is through Almaritsu that Damien Montaron was best able to show - without compromises or lies - what he had to say.
This promising début should lead this young director further along into the adventure of cinema.
