'Cries of London' is the peculiar story of Michelle, a french student living in London with her boyfriend Martin. Like thousands all over the world she is trapped in a relationship she does not fully comprehend the claustrophobic effects of. This is undermined following the disappearance of her pet cat London, and the bizarre and malicious campaign by an unseen man who may or may not be in possession of the cat but is refusing to return it. This explicit bullying leads her to take a closer look at the behavior of the other people in her life.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Frankie Frears was born in 1983. The son of the acclaimed film director Stephen Frears and the painter Anne Rothenstein. After education at the King Alfred School Frears received a degree in English literature and philosophy from the University of Sussex. In 2006 Frears enlisted for a short course at the New York Film Academy, where he met some of his later collaborators and was genuinely encouraged after making a four minute film called 'Amnesiophobia'. After working for about a year in various positions on short films, he directed his debut short 'The Years in the Desert'. 'Cries of London is his second short film. He lives in London.
