STORY DESCRIPTION:

It’s not easy to keep your composure on a first date, especially when you’re losing her attention… fast.That’s exactly what happens to Joe in this short romantic comedy, 'California Roll'. With the hottest date of his life on the line, Joe must improvise. This leads Joe to dig himself a hold deep enough to hold a tall tale about the origin of the California Roll. A story that lands him in an 1849 California gold mining camp with villainous cowboys, a gambling samurai, an apple pie of a sushi chef with half-baked ideas, and a mysterious, handsome stranger called the Avocado Kid...
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Nam Il Cho is a 29 year old Korean-American filmmaker who has been working in Thailand for the last 4 years. He has directed two nationally distributed feature length urban dvd magazines called "Spit", a first (and second) in Thailand, over a dozen broadcasted music videos, including a video for Thaitanium, Thailand's biggest rap act, that has been featured on MTV Asia and Channel V. He also directed Nike's premiere short film for Nike's SE Asian celebration for their 25th Anniversary of the Air Force 1 shoe and most recently his video for Malaysia's #1 English language band, PopShuvit, was nominated in the Best Music Video category for their AIM Music Awards. This is his second short film.
