a street, a woman and a man….A young woman has to pass a homeless man in her street. She doubts if she will give the man some money; Will he buy alcohol or drugs from her money?… Or can he afford a meal and a bed for tonight? After we have seen different options in her mind, she decides to give him some money after all. But things take a different turn.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Mathijs Geijskes got his degree in drama and film studies at the University of Utrecht in 1993. Since then he works as a free-lance scriptwriter and director. His first short Man on the Roof (1997) was selected for more as 40 international festivals and won three prizes: FIPRESCI award at the Int. Short Film Fest. Krakow (Poland), Silver medal at Brno (Czech Rep.) and First Prize Méridiens Festival Aubagne (France). His second film Daddy's little girl (1999) has been invited for more as 70 film festivals and has won five prizes, including the first prize at the short film festival Sulzbach-Rosenberg (Germany) and the prize for the best foreign film at the short film festival Lucca (Italy). His third short film JoyMeal (2001)has also a succesfull tour around the international film festivals and won several prizes, including 2 audience awards and the prize for best actrice at the Montecatini film festival (Italy). STOP! (2003) is his last short film before 50 Cents. STOP! was the opening short film at the New York Film Festival September 2005. Both JoyMeal and Stop! are co-produced by the NPS (Dutch Public TV) in their shorts series of KORT!
