The intense and out of ordinary life of Carlo Petrini, professional football player of the seventies. In 1968, at the age of 19, he had the first terrible experience with doping, just few months before his debut in Serie A, with Milan Club.
After a brief recollection of his football career, Petrini talks about the first big scandal in Italian “Serie A”: the illegal bets and his personal involvement in two fixed matches; Juventus Club scams to avoid any disciplinary action; the political movements that led to a long suspension that virtually ended his career.
Submersed by debts with dangerous mobsters he flees abroad, until the tragedy that changed his life forever…
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Born and raised in Trieste, Italy. Degree in Political Science at the University of Trieste. Professional basketball player in Italy for many years. His life takes on a different path when he begins skydiving in 1995. The following year he moves to Florida to seek a carrier as professional skydiver but after three years decides to follow an old dream and begins classes at Full Sail in Winter Park, Florida. He graduates in December 2000 in Film and Video Production.
He has since concentrated on cinematography, shooting narrative projects in
US and Italy.
American Eunuchs (presented at IDFA 2003, first appearance competition) represents his first documentary and directing debut.
