1969 is a journey led by our narrator, who finds her mother’s diary which enables her to retrace the mysterious circumstances which led to her parents fateful last holiday in Italy in 1969. The film evocatively weaves from past to present, hightened with passion and intrigue from the past, to a realisation of the present, and to a final closing of a dark chapter .
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Paolo Guglielmotti was born in Rome on July 24, 1969 by an English mother and Italian father. He grew up in Rome and moved to Britain, where he graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in theatre studies and sociology. Since then he has taken advantage of his background to move between Rome and London to work in theatre productions, directing classics such as “Suddenly Last Summer” by Tennessee Williams and “Six Characters in Search of an Author” by Luigi Pirandello and the stage version of ‘1969’.. He has since moved on to work in documentaries and features as an assistant director. The short film “1969” is the directorial debut of Paolo Guglielmotti.
