This is a story of refugees. This is a story of children who had to flee their country because of war.Shortly after the Second World War hundreds of refugee camps had to be set up quickly. Geislingen an der Steige, a small town in Germany, became home for some 4000 Estonians who had fled their country out of fear for the Soviet Army. The Geislingen camp was organised as if it was going to last forever, but this was not going to be.The children of Geislingen are now all around 80. They can tell what influence war, flight and refugee camps had upon their lives. Their stories are inspirational: how to overcome the most difficult situations and make something of your life.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Coming home soon is my fifth documentary film. All my films are related to people who are uprooted due to the war and need to build a new life in unfamiliar places. How do you keep on going? How do you build up a new life? Do you keep connected to the past or is it better just to focus on the future? These are questions which interest me.
