DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Von Kochar (aka Yervand Kochar) is a writer, philosopher and director of film and theater based in Los Angeles.
Von's recent film and theater works include a documentary â€œHeal Americaâ€, a special selection of Sheffield Film Festival Videoteche Section, a Montebello staging of a play â€˜Displacementâ€ about the plight of Russian-Armenians of WWII , as well as an upcoming German/France/UK film coproduction- "The 13th Imageâ€ starring Udo Kier and Hannah Herzsprung.
Von is the winner of 2000 LA Weekly Award for Theater Art Direction and Isaakyan Annual Prize for Playwriting. He is a Fellow of the Moving Picture Institute, a recipient of William E. Simon Scholarship in Philosophy and a finalist of the Paul Varnum Screenwriting Award (Los Angeles) and Robert Bosch Film Fund (Wiesbaden, Germany). He is an author of various essays on the American Civil War and metaphysics published in the American Thinker and other publications.
Von is the grandson of the legendary Armenian- French painter and sculptor Yervand Kochar, whose tradition of Dimensionalism he explores through his work.(One of Yervand Kochar's first films "Manfish" premiered at 2002 RIFF)
