Fleeing the Syrian war, an old man and his grandson become lost in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. Finding themselves in a foreign place with their destiny uncertain, Abed Al-Hadi, a boy of seven, is forced to protect and care for his sick grandfather. The pair struggles before arriving in the hard, ruthless city of Beirut. Abed has no choice but to beg on the streets in order to provide the old man with the medicine he desperately needs. His childhood lost, the boyâ??s situation deteriorates even further in the wake of a horrific accident.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Karim Rahbani comes from a family of musicians renowned for their vibrant oriental music and musicals. He took part in several plays and short movies as an actor, while pursuing filmmaking studies at (IESAV â?? USJ) Beirut â?? Lebanon. He directed two short films that were screened at numerous film festivals. With Thy Spirit his third short film was selected internationally to compete in the Muhr Short Film Award at (DIFF) Dubai International Film Festival and won the Special Mention. It was selected at the 14th edition of the Beirut International Film Festival (BIFF) and won the special jury prize. After winning such distinguishable awards, With Thy Spirit has traveled around the globe screening in 20 festivals and winning 10 awards. Furthermore, With Thy Spirit was part of the Short Film Corner in the Festival de Cannes adding to the film international acclaim. After â??Cargoâ? his new short film produced by Rouge International , Ezekiel Films ltd ,Rahbani is working on his first feature film.
