Upset about his declining market share, the Devil opens his own church on Earth where everything that has been prohibited is now allowed. People are encouraged to release their basic instincts and carry out their suppressed fantasies. Gluttony is no longer a sin; however, hunger is. Using the television to spread out the arrival of the new religion, Satan installs chaos in the world. Bored by the celestial tedious, God from whom we expect a spectacular reaction seems indifferent with the humansâ?? fate. Is the humankind going to fall into Devilâ??s abyss?
An anticlerical satire with a philosophical touch about humankind based upon the short story -- The Church of the Devil -- by Machado de Assis, the most important Brazilian writer of the XIX century.
