Death Must Be Earned is the intimate portrait of Serge Livrozet, former safe-cracker, one of the protagonists of 1970s French counter-culture, alongside Michel Foucault founder of the Committee of Prisoner's Action, self-taught writer and anarchist activist. The film portraits him at age 75 in his hometown of Nice where he revisits the pivotal episodes of his life of social struggle and polticial activism.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Nicolas was born in Nancy, France in 1987. He studied various aspects of film-making under the tutelage of independent production company Slowboat Films including the roles of cameraman, assistant director, sound engineer and translator. He directed his first documentary film in 2009. Following a 5 year exile to Belgium, he returned to Nancy in 2012 to complete his feature-length documentary film Sur les Toits (2014). He is currently finishing a biopic on Serge Livrozet.
