In the heart of Romania, in rural Transylvania, a young Roma girl is preparing to give birth. We embark on her daily journey, finding bits of puzzles about her past: how she was kidnapped to be married or saved by her future husband. As their love story unfolds, we get to know her family’s struggles and the constant pressure of what Roma integration into society means. Although facing an uncertain future while her husband is far away, Angela finds relief and hope in religion. “What God promises, stands before family.”The situational documentary captures raw, unfiltered scenes from the real life struggles of Transylvanian Gypsies.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Botond Püsök was born in 1986, Romania. He graduated at the Sapientia - Hungarian University of Transylvania, Department of Film, Photography and Media, with an academic degree in film directing. After graduating, he co-founded SpotFilm, a film production company based in Cluj-Napoca. His short films and documentaries have been screened at national and international film festivals.
