STORY DESCRIPTION:

Mostar Sevdah Reunion is a world music multiethnic band founded after the end of the war in the former Jugoslavia. Through interviews to musicians and other local artists, with the accompaniment of the songs of the group, with their tipical balcan taste, the film narrates the social and cultural tension in Mostar, a city in the balance between a pitied past and an uncertain future.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:

Lucio de Candia was born in Trani (Italy) in1976. Graduated in Political Sciences and specialized in International Relations, he had some experiences in the promotion of the italian cinema abroad. In 2007 he attended the European Academy of Cinema “Griffith” in Rome, studying film direction and criticism. After his first short movie “L’ultimo giorno” – selected to various festivals in Italy – he directed the short documentary “La Terra Mé” about the post earthquake recostruction of the city of “L’Aquila. The documentary partecipated in many national and intrenational festivals winning some prizes as best documentary. (Budapest Pazmany Film Festival, Collecchio Video Festival, Festival di Imperia). Balkan Blues is his first medium documentary.
