The highlands of the Indonesian Sulawesi Island is the home of the highlander, the "toraja". Their funeral ceremonies lasts for days with big meals, dances and buffalo fights. The highlight of the ceremony is the kill of the buffalos that carrie the dead's soul to "Puja", how they call Heaven. The toraja' belief in Heaven is solid but getting there is not without problems: These feasts cost astronomical sums of money with the presence of many hundreds, sometimes more than a thousand relatives and friends. Besaides the government supports the ceremonies that attract tourists but fines the senseless kill of the animals. However it is the gate of Puja has to be reached anyway. The film is a document of a monumental five days long buriel ceremony of a toraja queen and her son.
