DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Gehres received her B.F.A. in painting from Parson's School of Design. She supported herself by selling her paintings on the streets of Soho and her murals have adorned walls of New York City Public schools and the now demolished 42nd Street Project. While working at Film/Video Arts, given access to equipment, Karen began shooting her first feature-length documentary,BEGGING NAKED. It received a Ford Foundation Grant and went on to be a festival favorite.Roger Ebert became a real champion for the film,inviting it to his own Ebertfest.
The Library of Congress selected it for a rare honor - inclusion in its motion picture division's permanent collection.
She is now a Field Producer/Director for film and television.
