The RIFF goes live on November 19 and 20 with a strong focus on the documentary . On Monday 19th the festival will be dedicated to the cinema of the real, to short films and meetings. Starting at 4.20 pm, No me desperteis will be screened by Sara Fantova (Spain, 2018), Summer by Lynn Laor (Israel, 2018), Cat Noir by O’Neil Burgi (Switzerland), Chimney Man by Meghdad Akhavan (Iran, 2018), Guaxuma by Damien Megherbi (France / Brazil, 2018) and Sunscapades by Ben Mitchell (UK, 2018).
Space then to the documentaries in competition. It starts at 18.20 with The Old Cat by Xavier Labruyère and Bernard Louargant (France / Argentina, 2018) dedicated to the work of Carlos Regazzoni who creates monumental sculptures recovering materials from old locomotives and other railway materials.
Also on Monday 19 at 20.00 RKM Rome Kaputt Mundi (Italy, 2018) by Francesca Picozza and Andrea Santoro who will introduce the doc in the room, tells the contemporary art scene of the capital so far from the stereotypes that have represented it until today.
Alle 21.30 Le Periferie di Roma e il Movimento democratico diretto da Enzo De Camillis (Italia, 2018). Le periferie di Roma dal 1947, con l’ex sindaco di Roma Francesco Rutelli, Roberto Morassut, Marisa Rodano, fondatrice UDI (Unione Donne Italiane) nel 1943, fino agli anni ’70 con i sindaci Argan, Petroselli e Vetere, a confronto con l’abbandono delle periferie della politica di oggi e arricchito con immagini di repertorio dell’Aamod. A ridosso della proiezione Enzo De Camillis incontrerà il pubblico del cinema del Pigneto per rispondere a domande e curiosità.
Alle 17.00 nuovo appuntamento con il Country Focus Spagna – Operas primeras: donne cineaste dedicato alle opere prime al femminile con Esquece monelos di Angeles Huerta incentrato sul fiume che si trova sotto le strade di A Coruña, dimenticato da molti ma che di tanto in tanto straripa reclamando quello che una volta era il suo corso.
Alle 20.15 per il concorso dei lungometraggi Kilikis…The Town Of Owls di Azlarabe Alaoui Lamharzi (Morocco, 2018) sulla città di GUFI una comunità residenziale isolata situata sulle montagne dell’Alto Atlante. È abitata da famiglie e guardie di un campo di prigionia politico segreto, che è rimasto fuori dalla storia per molto tempo fino all’inizio degli anni ’90: una prigione titanica in cui sono detenuti tutti, inclusi guardie e residenti. Il film sarà introdotto dal regista e sarà preceduto dal corto Peccatrice di Karolina Porcari (Italia, 2018).
The day closes at 10.30 pm another document dedicated to the controversial fascination of Rome Capital 167/62 by Carlos Higinio Esteban (Spain / Italy, 2018) in the presence of the director. In the ’60s and’ 70s on the outskirts of Rome, ambitious urban projects for their quality and for the number of lodgings took place with the protection of Law 167/62. The doc explores in detail the relationship between exemplary projects that lead to the conception and execution of these urban developments and their consequences.
