Stefano Ratchev, Andrea Maguolo and Nadia Zavarova: all about the Masterclasses scheduled at RIFF 2019

The triple appointment dedicated to the Masterclasses organized by the Rome International Film Festival 2019 is preparing to face the contemporary cinema from a technical as well as a critical point of view.

On the opening day, the afternoon of November 15th we will be meeting with Nadia Zavarova, the journalist and critic, formerly edition selector of the Ukrainian retrospective program, will discuss the effects of the film images on people’s lives over the years. From the explanatory title “A Film Star is My Best Friend”, the panel will explore the way in which the invisible details of films can infuence more complex social contexts.
Forum with two Italians will be more practical, on stage between the 17th and 18th of November. Ratchev and Maguolo will sequentially deal with the work of musical composition and editing. While the composer will take care of introducing audience
to the little known activity of a musicians impact on the audiovisual, Maguolo’s lesson will focus on the contemporary dimension of professional video editing, with an attention to the recent technological development brought by the digital market and new methods of progress it carries.
Each of three meetings will take place at 18:00, during first days of RIFF.
