RIFF AWARDS 2012 – HERE ARE THE WINNERS

The title of Best Italian Short Film is shared by two films this year– “Cusutu n’ Coddu” by Giovanni La Pàrola and “Ombre” (“Shadows”) by Emanuele Pica. The winner of Best Foreign Short Film is “Two Hearts” by the Irish Darren Thomton, wish Special Mention to “Nostos” by Alessandro D’Ambrosi and Santa de Santis,  “Him (El)” by Lìdice Abreu and Andrés Zawisza (Spain), and “Legacy” by Bryn Chainey (Germany).
For the Student Short Film and Animated Short Film categories, the respective winners are: “Controlled” by Hendrik Maximilian Schmitt and “Cadera” by Evan Viera, with Special Mention to the Israeli “Marta Must Fly” by Ma’ayan Rypp and the Austrian “Much Better Now” by Philipp Comarella and Simon Griesser. RIFF announced special awards this year for new writers: Best Short Film Screenplay to “El Jardinero” (“The Gardener”) by Stefano Valentini, Best Screenplay Subject to “Agata” by Riccardo Giullari, Best Feature Film Screenplay to “La Casa nel Bosco” (“The House in the Woods”) by Giorgio Pirazzini and  Best “Movie Pitcher” to “Gli Occhi di una Vita” (“The Eyes of a Life”) by Michele Antonio Parisi.
The film selections satisfied the finest palates in filmmaking, in the audience at the Casa del Cinema and the Nuovo Cinema Aquila. In addition to the filmmakers and aficionados, RIFF had many specials guests during this splendid week in film: Valentina Carnellutti, Nino Frassica, Alessandro Haber, Sandra Milo, and Franco Neri, to name a few.
