“Legacy” chronicles the loss of a beloved pet mouse, and a young girl’s fascination with death and eclectic funerals. Set against the lush, horn-infused melodies of the four minute (and some spare change) track, this film explores cultural ceremonies ranging from a customary Japanese funeral to a space burial.
Bryn Chainey (1986) graduated from the Griffith Film School (Australia) in 2006 and since then his short films have screened in over 30 international film festivals and won 16 prizes, including the young director's award at last year's Berlinale. His work is often dark and childlike, exploring family relationships and occasional 'pataphysics. In 2011, he received a fellowship with the Berlin Nipkow Program to develop his first feature film script.
