 “SEX COWBOYS” BY ADRIANO GIOTTI WINS THE ITALIAN FEATURE FILM COMPETITITON

“UNE JEUNE FILLE DE 90 ANS” BY VALERIA BRUNI TEDESCHI AND YANN CORIDIAN WINS THE PRIZE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL  DOCUMENTARIES AND “2 GIRLS” BY MARCO SPERONI WINS THE ITALIAN DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION.

There has been a great public success for the XV edition of the RIFFRome Independent Film Festival, held form November the 25th to the 1st of December 2016 in the Cinema Savoy and the Cinema Europa of Rome with 110 films in competition including documentaries, short and feature films, coming from 24 countries in the world. RIFF has presented 15 world and 10 European premiers. There has been 12 films in competition, the 8 of which come from Canada, Germany, France, USA, Philippines, Spain and Chile.

RIFF Awards, amounting to a sum of around 50.000 euros, were awarded to the following films during the awards ceremony with the presence of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Alfonso Perez Esquivel.

The best international feature film “You’ll Never Be Alone” by Alex Anwandter (Chile)

**Special mention to “1:54” by Yan England (Canada)

The best Italian feature film: “Sex Cowboys” by Adriano Giotti (Italy)

The best international documentary: “Une jeune fille de 90 ans by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi & Yann Coridian (France)

The best Italian documentary:  “2 Girls” by Marco Speroni (Italy)

**Special mention to “Gente di amore e rabbia” by Stefano Casertano (Italy)

The best international short film: “Ja passou” by Sebastiao Salgado (Portugal)

**Special mention to “Minh Tam” by Vincent Maury (France)

The best Italian sort film: E così sia” by Cristina Spina (Italy)

**Special mention to “Parla che ti sento” by Idria Niosi (Italy)

The best student short film: Anna” by Or Sinai (Israel)

**Special metion to “America” by Aleksandra Terpinska (Poland) and “Gionatan con la G” by Gianluca Santoni (Italy)

The best short animation: “Playgroung” by Francis Gavelle and Claire Inguimberty (France)

RIFF Awards 2016 were awarded by the International Jury of the Festival, composed by the Italian journalist, Giovanni Anversa, the Finnish Jouni Kantola from the Berta film, the actors Riccardo De Filippis and Stefano Fregni, the president of the FICE Domenico Dinoia, the Spanish cultural operator María del Carmen Hinojosa, THE Colombian actress Juana Jimenez, the distributer of the NewGold Serena Lastrucci, the screenwriter, director and the president of ANAC Francesco Ranieri Martinotti, the Spanish director Gabriel Velázquez, the Canadian journalist and producer Megan Williams, and the founder of the Wanted Cinema Anastasia Plazzotta.

Among the foreigners, the Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Peréz Esquivel, the British actor Jamie Bamber, the Oscar nominated director of photography Phedon Papamichael, Canadian actors Antoine Olivier Pilon and Lou-Pascal Tremblay and many directors were present during the festival.
