SYNOPSIS:
In the midst of the repression by the National Gendarmerie against the Mapuche people’s protest, aimed to get their lands back from the tycoon Luciano Benetton, the 28-year-old Santiago Maldonado disappears. In the country of 30.000 desaparecidos, his family starts a search that immediately mobilizes the rest of the state. Where is Santiago? Who took him away?
78 days later his body reappears on the shore of Chubut river, very close to where he was last seen. What happened to Santiago on that August 1th? Who is to blame for his disappearance? These questions with no answer follow a case that once again claims Truth and Justice.
BIOGRAPHY:
Tristán Bauer is an Argentine director of documentaries and feature films, honored by the Konex Award Merit Diploma for his documentary path. Among his films, which won prizes in major festivals around the world: "Iluminados por el Fuego" (2006 Goya Award), "Despues de la Tormenta", "Cortázar", "Che. Un Hombre Nuevo”. His channel "Encuentro" is a model of cultural and educational TV. First appointed director of the National System of Public Media and then president of the Argentina Radio and Television, from 2015 he devoted himself to his role as a teacher and to cinema.
