Screenplay competition rules

Submitting your screenplay for selection to the Rome Independent Film Festival automatically gives you different benefits:
NOTICE: As part of our mission statement, our organization may refer names and contacts of submitting filmmakers to independent distributors, creative agencies, press and internet companies. Tapes and other related materials, however, remain in the strict possession of the Festival’s archive.

Then simply send your screenplay PDF via email to info(at)riff.it and the appropriate application fee.

Eligibility

  • Copy Rights. The script must not have previously been optioned, sold or produced. The author of the script can be one or more people, Italian or foreign, without age limits. Each author can also participate with more than one work. Original script and unpublished works, whose rights are owned by the author, in English or Italian, are admitted to the competition.
  • Format. Screenplays for feature films, doc and short films are allowed (American format: approximately 30 lines per page, Courier 12 or similar font; numbered pages and scenes). For feature-length screenplays a maximum length of 150 pages is allowed, while for short films the maximum length allowed is 40 pages.
  • Privacy. Please send the PDF with the title of the work only without the name of the screenwriter or the author.
  • What to Send: please upload to our registration form and then send via email a copy in .PDF format of your work.
  • Subjects. It is possible to participate with feature or short film subjects, which must respect the following parameters. Maximum length 12 folders. The subscription for this section is Euro 10
  • Awards. The jury will awards the prize unanimously.
  • Deadline: August 31st 2024
