Story description:
Il XX secolo comincia. Persone spensierate vagano da una attrazione all'altra, ridono, noleggiano barche e carrozze, fanno scommesse, fumano o giocano con la sabbia, si cambiano i vestiti, si corteggiano. Passeggiano tra la spiaggia e le strade, cercano nuovi diversivi. Sono alla ricerca di qualcosa che li distragga dal fatto che la guerra sta per cominciare, che l'estate volge al termine, che sono morti da tempo.



The 20th Century begins. Carefree people roam from one attraction to another, laughing, renting boats and carriages, betting, smoking, playing with sand, changing clothes, flirting. As they circle around seashore parks and streets, they look for more diversions. They are seeking for ways to distract themselves from the fact that the war is about to start, that the summer is coming to an end, that they are long dead.

Director Biographical note:
Helga Landauer è nata a Mosca, ma dal 1996 si è trasferita negli Stati Uniti. È scrittrice oltre che regista, ha pubblicato libri di poesie, sceneggiature per corti e lungometraggi, lavorato per la televisione, coprodotto e diretto diverso documentari. Il suo lavoro più recente è un documentario in due parti Un film su Anna Akhmatova prodotto dalla DAS FILMS.



Helga Landauer was born in Moscow; she worked on Russian National Television. She also wrote poems, translated into several languages. Screenplays "Nobody Can" (1989), "The Concert" (1991) and "Patterns" (1992) have been produced into short feature films. Since 1996, she lives in U.S. Her documentary film "A Journey of Dmitry Shostakovich", 2006, was shown all over the world. Her recent work is a 2 part documentary « A film about Anna Akhmatova» (2008).
