Paul Marrin: Director, Print Return, Print Shipper, Producer, Submission Contact, Writer Paul Marrin is a 24 year old Canadian film maker who has overcome incredible adversary to get to the place of writing, directing, starring and editing his first film, “My Wife is a Vampire”. Paul has learning disabilities, and was unable to read or write until he was 12 years old. However he learned by watching – and his visual skills were the key to developing his film making skills. He has an unmatched memory for visual images, dialogue and movie facts. Paul started creating films as a young child, using his childhood friends as the actors to replay movies he had seen. His love of film continued into adolescence where he enrolled in every film course his school had to offer. It was also at this time that he developed his unique artistic skills and his artwork was featured in Paul’s own exhibition. Despite many challenges with his academic courses, Paul dedicated himself to becoming a successful student, and graduated from high school with two scholastic awards. After high school he enrolled in various post secondary courses to expand his skills in writing, directing, filming and editing. This led to the creation of both documentary films and music videos. However, his lifelong passion was to create his own film. Paul wrote the script for “My Wife if a Vampire” in 2003-2004. He then recruited his actors and technical support folks and began filming in 2006. As everyone was a volunteer, it was a challenge to shoot around everyone’s schedules. Filming was finally complete in 2008, and then the editing process began. Through a chance meeting with Chris Young, musical director for such films as Spider Man 3, Paul connected with Kristen Baum. Kristen has enhanced each scene with the musical score for the film. In turn, Kristen recruited rising Australian singing star Fiona Kernaghan to sing the closing song called “Forever Is Now”. Commercially, Paul has done many corporate special event videos. Paul lives in Oakville, Ontario Canada. He plans to continue to develop his skills and projects in film.
