SYNOPSIS:
Mafia enriches itself in many ways, one of thees is the request of Pizzo, a sicilian slang term for protection money. The amount of business that pays this tax, to Cosa Nostra, are estimated around 80%.The extorters, ask to shopkeepers money for safety and protection and everybody passively agree to pay to avoid the black mail. During the last years something and one of the most important protagonist in this process of change has been a committee of young people called Addio pizzo (Goodbye protection money). The most important success has been the break of the wall of silence about the racket issue until yesterday considered a taboo.
BIOGRAPHY:
Marco Battaglia, Laura Schimmenti, Gianluca Donati e Andrea Zuliani comes from different experiences in the field of direction and eting of audiovisual works. Since 2000 they starded to collaborate with the production company Playmaker to direc documentaries focused on social, cultural and current affairs. Tra le loro opere: “L'oro della munnizza” (2010); “Quel che resta del mio regno” (2009); “Ritratti d'artista” (2008).
